Hi everyone, please excuse my ignorance.
After spending a month or researching, have decided to get our fIrst budgie.
A lot of the information seems conflicting. All the petshops have tried to sell us cages about 50 cm by 30cm, which we feel is too small. We like the firplast remote 4 cage and the Hagen 2 cage. Both of these are around 2 ft by 1ft. Which would be most suitable, does Hagen really help Reece mess outside cage.
Any other suggestions, we planto have one budgie, who will be let out to fly around for a couple of hours every day.
Any suggestions or advice greatly received. Thanks Steve

Sorry iPhone auto correct kicked in the ferplast cage is the rekord4, and I was asking if the Hagen vision cage really does help to reduce the mess around the cage

The bigger the cage you can afford - both room and cash - go for. A cage cannot be too big, but it ccan definitely be too small. Unfortunately pet store workers don't always know what they are talking about, and while on the pet stores, DON'T buy sand sheets or sand perches. Waste of money at best, at worst cause problems to your budgie's feet.

Hi I have the Hagen vision medium cage (remember go for width rather than height if you are not getting a huge cage) it certainly stops mess plus is a nice cage for 1 budgie Elfie was is my first ever budgie also and i could not be happier with the cage..have a look at the site below as i got mine from here and they are a fantastic company www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/hagen/42441

Wow, Moogie! Elfie's cage is sooooo clean. Did you do a special clean up for the photo-shoot, lol? ?? Well done, you, and I am sure it is lovely to see the cage being used by Master In-House-Budgie Elfie, himself. ;D

Hi
Yes the Hagen visions do keep mess in the cage but can be a pain to clean. However, if you only have one budgie or two then it's probably not so bad to keep clean.
They are well made and good cages, I have two of the large ones.

That looks a nice cage, however what is the cleaning like on removing the bottom. Is it likely for a cheeky budgie to escape whilst moving the top part?
Billy is getting bigger and now seems to have less space to move around. And that he doesn't like to come out of the cage. He will if you get him out then we have trouble getting him back in.
Thanks
