After finding a budgie in the mirror and not doing anything else but staring at it. I have ended up taking it out of his cage, since he was getting very possessive over it. I was still able to play with billy but not has much as before. This is the reaction just after it went 'missing'. Attachments:

So at first I put the balls in its place. Oh boy that wasn't a good idea, he managed to make them 'unhook' from each other landing on the floor. Attachments:

Now there's a new temporary cage set up until I decide what to do. Since he won't even entertain the outside of his cage I am debating taking most of the toys out so he can move around a lot more hopefully fly. He can fly up to the rope perch from the seed tray. This was taken this morning having a morning nap. Attachments:

clean cage with less toys equals one slightly confused budgie. Attachments:

The new cage set up, Billie is not right sure what to make of it all. Lets hope she (we now think he's a she) will be more mobile around the cage with room to stretch them wings. Attachments:

Hi I just wondered what your reaction would be if
he removed your mirror? Yours B.J.

The mirror has not been fully removed B.J., since its her fave toy it has been used to try and encourage her through that big cage door. Our old budgie took a month or two to get through that door, ended up doing the same fave toy so trying the same. Attachments:

I do that Beth. I hang Munchy's mirror near a perch outside to get him to come out. Too bad he had it before I had chance to try to bond with him first. He doesn't seem to mind when it's gone, but he won't stay outside without it when he can be inside his cage instead.

This budgie of mine does not come out at all unless spooked by something when the doors open then we have the fun of getting it back in again.

Mine's never been scared of the door but he doesn't really show any interest in coming out. Only time he came out without the mirror or millet was when he was playing with a ball hung from the top of his cage, knocked it and it came back and bounced off him and he shot out and flew around the room. I'm seriously thinking about getting mine a friend if I'm allowed because he's become grumpy since he started moulting and I'm not sure if he'll ever become tame, in which case it might be unfair to keep him alone.
