Hi, I'm pretty sure i know the answer to this myself but would love to know what other people think. As i have said before i really miss by budgies being in the house. Ive always had one or two around but when i had 7 it became a bit much and the Aviary was born. I have one budgie who is very forthcoming when i go into the Aviary and that's Teddy. He always comes up to me for a chat (and to see if i have any extra special treats : . He is one of my home bred birds and even though he is 6 i think he would hand tame quite easily. I have been toying with the idea of bringing him in on his own and having him as a house budgie but i worry about how this would affect him having been with the others all his life. I also worry about how the other three would be as he is quite a king pin in the Aviary. What do you guys think and has anyone ever done this before.

Maybe you could bring them all in?!
I wouldn't want to separate them but then that is just my opinion.
Or maybe you could get a new bird or a couple of birds to be house budgies?

We think alike Marianne, i have considered bringing them all in again much to OH's eye rolling but would have to buy a much larger cage and im not overly house proud but the mess drove me mad last time. Ive also thought about getting a new addition, i would particularly like to hand tame and think this would be better with just the one. The trouble is i haven't managed to find any good breeders near me and am a bit loathed to buy a pet shop one. I did go and have a look a couple of weeks ago at one of the only places near me that sell budgies and they all look a bit sickly if you know what i mean I also think it wouldn't be fair to separate Teddy. Thanks it helps to know how others view it.

I know some people have one or two budgies in the house and rest in the aviary.

Hi bird junky, i have, the four i have now are the babies from my original birds. i haven't bred for about 5 years and have been considering it again and that also would involve getting a new hen to inject some fresh blood. I'm at that do i, don't i start again phase, thinking that's probably what i need to do then i could keep one back for hand taming.
Thank-you its all helping to point me in the right direction.

My two cents' worth - four budgies in the house would be fine That's only one more than three which I had, but after they have been in the aviary, the brds may find it more difficult to adapt. Could you arrange with a breeder for two from the same nest, maybe, with them being handled lots before you get them? I do understand about no breeders close, but maybe the catchment area needs to be extended. But if you breed one and then take it for taming inside, it would be keeping the genes alive from old George (was it? Sorry if I have got that wrong)

Hi. Re breed your own. Another advantage is you would
have the pick of the litter. Or you could keep them all.
Go on, you know you want too. Yours B.J.
