Hey all! My boyfriend's grandparents acquired a baby budgie today, and it was only when they got her home into the new cage we noticed she has a slight beak underbite. It's not hugely obvious, but it's definitely there. The grandparents are in their 80's, and I'm wondering if it would be worth taking the budgie back if it may mean numerous trips to the vets throughout her life? If that makes sense? What are your experiences of underbites, and what would you make of it? The pet shop have said they're happy to exchange the budgie for another if there's anything we're unhappy with. Thanks.

I can't do that as it's not my budgie. But we reached the decision to change the bird for another one, just incase it meant long term complications.

Probably best for the grandparents, feel sorry for the budgie, though.

The last example (prognathism) is an underbite - where the bottom beak grows out over the top, rather than the other way round.
