Decided for now to keep the same cage, however I nearly ordered a new cage from Zooplus but mum decided to tell me off. So I have tried to make some flight space in the current cage (which isn't much) for now. We have seen her fly from the closed door to the wooden perch for some flying practice.

Well found that one of the bars has broken loose and is now broken, for now I have put the small seed pot nearby to make she madam doesn't notice it. I am now guessing this means now we will have to buy a new cage sooner rather than later. And of course mum says it will be ok, oh the joys of dementia mum not understanding the danger that the sharp object could hurt little Billie.

I am sure your mum wouldn't intentionally mean harm to Billie - it is just she doesn't understand. Definitely time to get that new cage though.

This cage looks better than the other. I have this one.....but in the tall version.....which is good for 4 budgies.....however they do tend to stay at the top half of the cage.....unless they they are eating or it is bathtime.....for the bath for this cage we did have to send for it from the states as we could not find it in the UK.....

I can't have that one now, because it needs to be easy to pull out to change the bottoms. Went to a fairly local pet shop this afternoon. They sell ferplast, imac and a couple of others of one which i cant spell let alone remember. We will also need a new stand because they seem bigger than the last one. This is the Ferplast Rekord 4. This is the most expensive. Attachments:

Comparing ferplast Rekord 3 and 4. The rekord 3 is overall roughly 10cm shorter on length and height, and 3 cm the width. So not sure now, was thinking the bigger the cage the more room the little madam will have to fly around the cage.

We usually tell people to get the biggest cage they can afford and have space for. A budgie cannot have too much room, so hope that helps you make a decision.

In the end we have gone for cage no 3. We had to get a new stand that I cannot put together, if dad can't do it we are stuck! Billie keeps looking at it saying 'when can I play in that nice new big cage of mine!!!' lol
We could always turn the current stand the other way for now but is very rocky and it doesn't fit correctly since its bigger than the stand! But only just.

Billie will be loving a big new cage. And I am sure Dad will be able to handle a stand (if he reads the instructions! No male in my house reads the directions before starting anything and so usually gets started twice at least. :
