B.J,'s BALISTIC BUDGIE CANNONBALL COLIN Imagine the scene Colin is about to be shot from a cannon into a net rigged up on the other side of the table. The audience hold their breath as Colin is loaded into the cannon. From a tin marked Gunpowder with a skull & crossbones I tip out a measured amount. Explaining that, never having done this trick before. I'm not sure how much explosive to use. Pausing for effect, I get the audience to count out, "1, 2, 3, fire." I pull the firing pin, there's a loud bang & a puff of smoke from the mouth of the cannon. A few feathers drift slowly down. All eyes are on the catch net as I dash round to the back of the audience & with a loud cry of "Got him" I pluck Colin from the air & certain death with a catch an English cricket captain would be proud of. I apologise to my audience that I may have used a little too much gunpowder. Fortunately Colin has come to no harm. I ask & get a round of applause for. 'Cannonball Colin the Balistic Budgie' I have decided not to explain the "how to do it" for this act just yet. Perhaps you would like a chance to try to figuare out the how it's done. You never know, your way might be an improvment. Remember half of show biz is just, Smoke & Mirrors.

Not sure we should encourage members to try shooting their budgies out of cannons but I would be interested to see a video of your budgerigars performing this trick in the past if you have one Bird Junky?

Hi The cannon was just a small box cage with a tube on top. Colin entered the cannon from the rear, dropping down into the cage for his favourite treat. A large Party Popper was set off sending coloured confetti & a few feathers from the tube ,watched by the agog crowd. Meanwhile I take Colin, run to the back of the room & pretend to pluck him from the air. I know it doesn't read as good as it's staged. Not being a Pro, entertainer I didn't consider work no matter how enjoyable worth filming. Someone else might have a video out there. I sold 'How too's & Scripts,' to several amateurs & professional entertainers over the years. Most of them have since passes on unfortunately. Yours B.J.
