This is Gilbert.....the newest member of our "herd"...... ;D
We had visited a pet store in our area to see about ordering in a certain type of budgie treats.....and Gilbert was in a cage with another budgie....however it was about 2 weeks before we were to go on holiday and we really did not have any where to keep him while we were away.....so we left the pet store without Gilbert.....2 days before our holiday we went back to the same pet store for some odds and sods for the "herd" before they went to their Aunties for their holiday.....and Gilbert was still there on his own.....again we talked about not having any where to take him but we do believe in fate.....the owner of the pet store offered to keep him for us until we got back from holiday at no extra charge....so we bought him then and there.....he has now been with us since Saturday....the "herd" are still at Aunties until Thursday.....
Gilbert's story is this.....he is an adult whom we were told a breeder had given up due to thinning their stock....he is over a year old with no leg ring.....our thought is that maybe he was a pet as he loves his mirror which he made friends with within 3 hours of us bringing him home....however he is a very quiet budgie but he does blinkies with me and we think he is a "seed junkie" as he is eating alot.....I am thinking he might be eating due to boredom.....but he has eating veggies as well.....we are hoping that when the "herd" returns it might bring him out of his shell a bit more.....
We think he is a boy but his cere is very dark....and he going through a bit of a moult.....
