Hi all ;D I'm Neil (people often get confused due to my user name) We used to keep lovebirds & really enjoyed it but old age got the better of them all & have been without a bird for quite a few years now & mentioned to my wife I fancied getting another parrot again & got told no We went to one of the local pet shops to get a couple of tropical fish which is my main hobby & spotted an albino budgie which I fell in love with but so did my wife. Well we walk out of the shop with a bird & no fish (didn't have what I wanted). He has been named snowy & has settled in fantasticly I think as he (I think it's a he) is fine about us going near his cage, he's not bothered about the hoover & isn't bothered about our Jack Russell one bit even when she stares at him or the time Carley (the dog) tried to have a go at him. I will prob be asking a few queastions once I've done so much reading of all the great info on here but the main one will be hand tamming snowy so far it's been a little every day as I don't want to rush or upset him. Oh snowy is about 13 weeks old

Hi Neil and welcome to forum I am glad that the pet shop didn't have the fish and you ended up with a budgie ;D Let him settle in his new home before you start any taming sessions. Looking forward to Snowy's pictures, and your questions

Wow thanks for such a warm welcome I got snowy's age wrong he's 14 weeks old now. Spent a little time with him at lunch time & he was a little happier comming out of his cage to day & for the first time he stepped onto my hand & was quite happy as he stood there cleaning his feet & wings ;D It might not seem much to a lot of you but he's the first bird we've had who would do this without taking a chunk out of my hand so am over the moon. Anyway here's snowy Attachments:

Snowy is lovely, and it would seem he is settling in very well. Did he eat the apple?

I'm hoping so mind you he bit onto my finger very hard tonight, not sure if it was his new stand had scared him or that it was about 7pm when we got him out of his cage as he likes to be left alone come 8pm & likes to have his towel over his cage to cover the top & sides but we leave the front open. He doesn't have an afternoon nap like my other birds did so he's prob tired & thats why he gets cranky
