Okay, so Munchy will now run over to see me when he is on top of his cage, and come when I call him. He'll even fly onto my arm from a short distance if I offer millet and will then keep doing it even with the millet hidden once he realises he's going to get a reward for it. If I offer food from my hand he'll hop onto my hand, or my arm and then walk to my hand, to eat it, and will now (or today at least) occasionally come closer to my hand if I hold it out palm up to see if there is any food for him. As soon as he's done eating or the food item vanishes he will hop off again.
So, my questions are: How do I now teach him to come onto my hand whenever I ask even if there is no food on my hand?
And how do I teach him to remain on my hand?
I keep trying to put him away in his cage but even if he's eating he keeps hopping away as soon as we approach the door, which makes bedtime difficult because sometimes he starts falling asleep on top of the cage and means that I can't just let him out in the mornings if I have to then leave quickly because I can't get him back in. I don't like chasing him in with my hand because it seems a big counter-productive to hand taming.
Also, I'm going to keep hand feeding him over this week because I'm off from uni to revise and because I want to make sure he's 100% okay with my hand before moving on.
On another plus note, he learns pretty much anything I say to him over two days. So far it's mostly things like: Munchy, pretty boy, pretty Munchy (which we didn't teach him), good boy, come here, come here Munchy, come on, he's such a lovely boy, I love you and where's Zoe. He has also picked up some whistles from my nan and occasionally sounds exactly like her so we can't tell who's whistling.
