I have a chain of rings from way back when Bluey was a baby. All the birds as young birds would play through the rings without a problem. By the time they are 12 months old they don't - they are too big for the rings. Because you are seeing them every day you don't realise they are getting bigger until you look at something like that and realise how small they were when younger. Even Sparky who was 4-6 months old when I got him has grown up and out in the 12 months I have had him. So 2 points: Daisy is a baby still, and she may be all pet budgie whereas Skye and may have some show budgie in their genes.

I'm not sure I'd want to feed too many honey sticks, there is sugar in them of course and should only be fed as a treat. Bubbles is way smaller than some of the others I have, she is just a small bird but perfectly healthy. Daisy may be a small bird too in the long run. What is her weight in grams? You can find out by putting a millet spray on a kitchen scale, tareing it and then when she gets on for the millet, hey presto! (NB might take a bit of patience if she's wary). That way you can weigh her regularly and keep an eye on her weight, hope this helps!

Im pretty sure after what i've just witnessed for the past 2hours, Daisy is no longer going to be underweight.....she has been on a honeystick and seed binge...no word of a lie she has just been eating and eating....lol looks like it's time to remove that and the millet.....the whole midsection of this honeystick is dead....im guessing she's getting back to "normal" she must have been ill from when i 1st got her :/

iv'e found honey sticks/bells to be the most effective. Eggfood can help too, Nothing much else personally.

don't know if anyone has mention this, but i usually gently hold the budgie and feel their chest, (or the fancy word since it's a budgie - keel bone) if the keel bone is sharp/poking out, it's likely the bird is thin, if you can feel it but their is a fair layer of muscle round the sides/ribs area their likely a okay weight, if you can't feel the keel bone they're likely over weight. And in general you can just feel if they skinny or not.

Yea I could feel it, and the vet had pointed out that he could feel it too Sent from my carrier pigeon honey bells should do the trick, they're a bit like our chocolate, you just can't resist gorging on it ;D. Iv'e found that mine don't eat sunflower seed, don't know if your birds are different, although they do eat egg food which contains Hemp seed (which i think is fattening)

I think a weaning off the honey sticks is a very good move. Good for a short term energy boost but not an all-day, every-day food. It is good she has finally found her appetite.
