Wondered, reading the post's on here what other members do with their pet budgie's when they pass away ? Whenever our budgies have died I have always made them a little wooden box and lined it with material, laid them to rest inside with their favourite toy, then buried them in our garden in special selected locations, each location bearing some sort of identification as to who it is. Does anyone think this is silly ?

It's not silly at all.
Some people do the same as you, burying them in a special place in the garden. Others bury them in a large special pot plant, especially if they are renting and likely to move, so they can take them with them when they leave.
Marianne has hers cremated. I'm sure she will tell you all about that.

I think the love and respect you show toward your budgies that have passed away is beautiful. I have buried my budgies in boxes with part of the cloth I used to cover them at night and their favorite toy. They are buried in the garden at my house at the shore, my favorite spot in the world.

I don't think it's silly at all, afterall it is what they mean to you. Everyone feels different when it comes to this difficult time but one thing on here you'll find is that everyone understands more than most. For me, that really helped with my grief and a didnt feel alone

Does anyone think this is silly ? It's not silly at all John. I give each budgie an individual cremation. It's quite expensive but it's the least my little companions deserve. I still have the ashes of my four previous budgies (the ones with Halo's in my signature), keep meaning to scatter them somewhere picturesque, but I can't seem to let go of them. It's not silly at all.

Well they deserve the love and respect, they are in our care after all. I treat them as a great responsibility, like a child they look to me for everything they need. My very first budgie, Coco is buried in a box in the garden, as is Lilah who passed away last year. I couldn't imagine just getting rid of them, they mean as much to me as my family and my dogs. Just because they are so small does not make them any less significant x

Having only (touch wood) lost the one budgie and fairly recently, Bluey is in a gold gift box on cotton balls. (I couldn't stand the thought of him falling over side-ways ). He also has his own little head stone and plaque. I really did go to town with him, but he was one of a kind. I already had the piece of granite, but it certainy makes a statement.

Poor sweet Bluey. It's so sad when a forum member loses a bird that we have all grown to know. I really wish I wasn't such a sook. Makes me cry reading these sometimes.
