Does anyone keep a planted aviary???
I saw a guy in america and his avairy and finch cages contained live plants and bushes which im guessing are safe with the birds. It looked really nice and im guessing that it would be nice for the birds to pick at fresh leaves ect.
So what i am wondering is could you put plants and bushes in, in pots rather than planted in the ground or would the birds tend to eat the soil?

I can vouch for that Serz, i have put several containers in mine with safe shrubs and even a young apple tree, GONE in no time, they absolutely annihilate everything and because they strip the bark everything dies. I love the idea and it looked lovely when it was first done but doesn't last long

That's such a shame as it's a nice idea. But judging by the remains of Munchy's greens after he's had a chew I shall have to stick to giving him bits of plants, rather than the whole thing or there will be nothing left growing ^^ Budgies are so destructive, the naughty little lovelies!

Planting outside the aviary and putting a few branches inside every now and then would be a good alternative

serz, there are plenty of lists on the internet on what are safe trees/branches to use. Do a little research and find out what you have locally.
