Mauve budgie is with Two Dark Factors in Blue (white based) budgies.
No dark factor = Sky Blue One dark factor = Cobalt Two dark factors = Mauve
Grey budgie is with Grey factor added to budgie color. In Blue (white based) budgies, the Grey budgie would look Grey. And it would have Grey cheek patches. In Green budgies, it would look like a Grey Green.
Gray factor is a color adding factor which is very strong and overrides the underlying color.

Thanks for the info. Can you please help me with some pictures? It would help if you please post normal grey and normal muave budgies pics, as they will not be mixed with other mutations.
Thanks.

Grey budgies have grey cheek patches. Mauve budgies have violet cheek patches. I don't own a mauve budgie so I can't post a photo but the beautiful grey on the forum banner has the grey cheek patches.

A grey or a grey green budgie will have silver, grey or blue cheek patches and the main tail feathers will be black.
A mauve or an olive budgie will have violet cheek patches and the main tail feathers will be navy blue.
The only time there can be a problem telling the difference is when a bird has factors for both grey and violet because the presence of the violet factor will affect the colour of the cheek patches and the tail feathers
