MattJ had had an idea that we could make a new flyer for this forum
One that we could print off and ask our local pet shop to give them to new owners (or ideally prospective owners)
What are peoples thought on the matter?
Thanks
Marianne

That is great Ian. I think a lot of people that get pet budgies don't really know what they are supposed to do. Some don't even realise that their cage need to be big enough for the bird to stretch their wings.

Plus of course maybe more people could be encouraged to show their birds if they come to our forum too?
Would ideally like more exhibition people here as well as pet people so that we get a very broad range of experience and knowledge.

That is a great idea. We should design a fairly simple one with a white background so that it won't use too much ink, that we can share with everyone on the forum and they can print it out to hand out or put one up in their local pet shop

Yes I agree Rachael, simple is best! You ideally need a flyer to make you stand out.. you need to appeal to the back yard breeders of pet type budgies thereare hundreds out there that dont show or breed show birds but still cage breed pet type budgies year in year out.. reach out to them!! The flyer needs to be in your face kind of design not something that has just been shoved together, it will show.

That would be great but I think they would be hard to reach via this medium ... other than the ones already here I really like the current balance here of pet/colony/exibitors and I think the only down side of this is it would risk unblancing it towards the pet owner. Do you think flyers at exibitions would be acceptable? I'm completely alien to that world so no idea. Also no reason to have multiple flyers aimed at different audiences

Above all, we need to attract more of the breeders. Their experience with multiple birds over many years, with varied conditions, diseases and problems, is invaluable.

I would do a flyer of sorts and also a business card that people could tuck in their wallots. If you're interested in attracting new owners then perhaps something that looks like an emergency card or hot line because a lot of people only go looking for help when their in trouble.
