Yes that's the rule and that's how you can compete genuinely Although I have seen a class for showing other budgies, but not in UK.

hi bb i was on the understanding that if you entre in the young bird section then the bird must show your own ring but in an any age section you can put any bird in that you own even if it isnt a bird that you have bred but you you will only win up to a cc

people in the Uk in some cases just buy in birds to show in the any age classes young birds have to have the exhibitors ring on them

You can show any budgerigar you have owned for over 28 days , without a ring it must be shown in an adult class , with a BS current year ring you can show as a breeder .....................
