hi all,im getting some quail for my aviary and i wanted to know if i could put conifer branches in the aviary for cover over there house,would they b safe for my budgies,

Hi china As far as I know their not poison they just taste bad. Can't verify from my own experience. Never mixed budgies & quail as Budgies known to bully them. Yours B.J.

depends on what conifer, i presume you mean leylandii cypress (it's about the most common), from what i can remember it's not poisonous but the sap it leaks can pose a problem (sticky feathers, beak etc etc)

I've used leylandii for a couple of years for quail in my budgie aviary. I only use fresh growth and for that reason only use it in the summer. The budgies tend to be uninterested in it and I've certainly had no budgie illness or deaths caused by leylandii. You should get no sap from the new fresh branch growth.

thanks for your help everyone,i shall have a look around to c what else i can use as well as conifer.also what do u keep the quails in ,when new shed up they will b able to get in that,would a rabbit hide b ok till then or a rabbit hutch,they will b in the aviary
