Kato, as you I let you all meet a while back now. I love him I do! But he's stressing me out I don't know how to train him at all! ( I am new to all this) he's comfortable with me he doesn't move when I move the top half of his cage on the floor when I am cleaning him ( he is a good little fella really, but I have tried everything to get him out millet and all, he came out once and just totally panicked and freaked out and hurt his head! I haven't had him out since cause I am terrified of him hurting himself cause I do love him but I want him to be like every video of budgies I see when they're good and sitting on their shoulders happy as larry http://instagram.com/p/L8MbiPJwRX My handsome boy

Patience is is the best thing, leave his cage door open and go about your normal things, Hoover, dusting etc; radio on, and he will come round in his own time, I used to go in my aviary and in no time they were jumping on my head........

I've tried opening the door he doesnt entertain it, the only way he does is if his budgie toy is sat on the otherside! He just totally panics when he's out tho that's what worries me but I want him to stretch his wings. I'll try the things that link says and I'll see how he goes! But I try not to give him millet and everyone else just Puts it in for him which irritates me cause I am always told 'he's your budgie' Thanks for your help guys!! means alot

We had some like this with our first budgie.....it took him about 4 months to decide to come out and when he did.....he would play for about an hour or so and then go back to his cage....however the earthquake we had a few years ago set him back about a month.....we had just gotten him to go on our hand.....and the next day he wanted nothing to do with us at all.....it just takes time with some budgies..... We hand-tamed him first and then we would put the cage on the floor with a ladder hooked to the door so he could walk down to the floor....and we would put his favorite toys on the floor for him to play with.....and when he was finished he would walk back up and into his cage.....

I am happy!!!! Kato came out last night and he looked so happy exploring! I git him out with his favourite YouTube video of a budgie, he loves it!! He came out and started biting the laptop, once I tried him on my finger he paniced and we couldn't get him, I think he might of been tired tho, but anyway he took cover in my poodles tail where my mum managed to pick him up and put him back in his cage! He bit my mum which I found hilarious! Gunna have to keep a tea towel handy for next time I think lol
