Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum; I have been owned by budgies on and off since I was a little girl and the past six years have been sharing my life with two budgies called Teddy and Alfie. Very sadly I lost little Teddy last night, after 9 days at the vets with breathing problems he was X-rayed and diagnosed with an enlarged liver. He didn't come round from the anesthetic and we are all very very sad.
My second budgie Alfie (see pic) has obviously been on his own for 10 days now; he's been coping with this quite well. He has spent most of today singing. Of course he needs a new friend so I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. I am never ever going to buy a budgie from a pet shop again, that's just asking for trouble. I have been struggling to find websites by good breeders in the Sussex/Surrey area or possibly even Hampshire.
Also, I'm not sure that a very young budgie would really be a good partner for Alfie. He is very active and has always been 'boss bird' but he is about 6 years old so might not appreciate a juvenile bird. I don't want a hen as doubtless she'd find somewhere to nest (my birds fly free all day, only eat and sleep in their cage). I want what is best for Alfie - at this point I would even part with him (not that I want to!) if I found the perfect place for him if you know what I mean - if someone else could offer him a better life than me, with lots of friends. I want him to be as happy as he could possibly be, he's such a lovely little guy.
Looking forward to your replies and being part of the forum.
