Oh how sad! RIP little hen.
If you decide to get another one, then make sure you quarantine the new budgie, and clean, disinfect and rearrange the cage toys/perches before introducing them. To help with them not fighting and being possessive, I introduce new budgies to the others in a neutral place and watch them to ensure no one fights or bickers. If you will keep them in the same cage after quarantining then you might need more food/water pots in case they do bicker over it. I have a few budgies who are already bonded and eat out of the same cup, yet when they are really hungry they sometimes bicker and take turns. I have another pair-sisters who fight and fight when it comes to food.I have to provide a double dished cup so they eat side by side but with their own amount.

I don't think it really matters, birds of a feather flock together. When my first budgie Sunny died I worried about the bonded partner Angel and considered getting another one coloured like Sunny. I needed to grieve and couldn't bring myself to get another one 'just like it' but I only considered it in the hope of 'tricking' Angel so he wouldn't grieve/get depressed. He grieved for a few days and I noticed that my other budgie-Mango (who was already bonded with Banana) and who was a tiny bit older than him took him in and began preening him as Angel had no one. Now they are inseparable. I did eventually get another budgie that actually looked alot like Sunny. I tried to 'bond' Angel and Pheonix (named Pheonix because he looks so much like Sunny) but Angel just wasn't interested. You could go for a completely different coloured budgie-that's what is so great about them; they come in so many colours.

So sorry to hear your news, but glad you have thought about your other bird's situation so quickly. Agree with Mick and get any colour you like! And def agree with Nani about quarantine and cleaning too. Let us know how you get on x

Oh sad! It was my male who died so that might be different anyway. Mischief was ok with Sid when he was a baby (she's about a year older than him) but although they had a few spats at first (when he became an adult) they've settle fine now just the occasional squabble (like us )but she's never bonded as well as she did with Alfie her former partner.
