So we have had our new budgie for one week and he is still afraid of us. We are trying everything that has been suggested here. Is it possible that some budgies are simply not tameable?

Yes it is possible that a budgie will take a lot longer than others while taming. It depends on the parents and the environment he was brought up in. Also not to forget that they have different personalities just like us human. Another thing to remember is that when a budgie is re-homed, he will take 2 days to 2 weeks to settle in his new home, sometimes even more. And lastly, sometimes taming a budgie can take months. Persistence and patience is always the key to success

Taming/training take time & patience be it with human, or bird babies. there is no quick fix. Click on the post bellow or any of the others & stick with it. One week is not a long time. Especially if your new bird had little human interaction before being sold on. It could well take months before you make any real progress.
