Hi there,
My budgie cage was pushed over a 5m wall (about 16 ft) by a cat...
My young budgie with clipped wings (that I've only had for a month) fell with the cage, and is obviously shaken... What can I do to check that he is not injured?
I had two budgies in the cage, my girl (that I've had for over 2 years) flew away. I'm going to try leaving the cage and some toys outside to attract her. I'm worried about the cold nights and dry hot days in the area.. What can I do?
Advice please!

Hi Luna, what a nasty accident - you must have had quite a shock yourself. Those poor little budgies! I hope you do get your girl back although she may have flown quite a distance in her fright. Try putting notices in local shops and vets with a photo of her on it if you have one. If you do see her I've heard people suggest spraying a hose above the bird (not at it) to wet it as it will then be unable to fly away. I'm not sure what to suggest about the boy apart from watching him closely for obvious signs of injury. If he were mine I think I'd be wanting his vet to check him over. I'm sure some of our more experienced members will be giving you better advice than I can offer soon though. Best of luck with both your budgies though!

I have nothing more to add to what Ruth has mentioned. If your little fella seems in any way injured get a vet to check him out, otherwise I would be keeping him quiet and slightly covered for a while until he seems more settled and back to normal. As for finding your hen, good luck with that - I hope you do find her. Ruth's advice there is spot on. Also try posting on parrotalert.com at the top of our forum page. They seem to have a pretty good response system going. B*****y cat!

I agree with what has been posted already. Good luck with finding your hen, I really hope you find her safe. And I hope your young budgie is OK. Check to see if he has any scratches from the cat's nails as they carry bacteria and apart from the obvious injury, a slight scratch can get infected.
Where was the cage located? Outside? Or was it your cat that scared the budgies?
