Hi I wonder if anyone could advise as to what we should do! We purchased 4 young budgies a week ago today. We have placed them in an aviary and until today they seemed to be thriving ok. Kiwi is a cock and he has been very sluggish all day and it seems the other 3 are picking on him? None of them seem to want to go into the indoor part of the aviary so have been out in all weathers! we live on the South Coast. We have put Kiwi inside on his own away from the others. Is there anything specific we should be looking out for? or supplements we should be giving. Thanks ever so, Mick

With seed & water He may be infectious. Possibly ill
when you got him. When introducing birds to new aviary
accommodation, Place the birds, their food & water etc.
in the inside part So birds venture out to explore the
outside after getting used to the inside. Coming in to
eat & roost every evening. OK? Yours B.J.

Thanks for that B J, I have already put Kiwi in on his own I'll also take your advice about the others. We are very new to this and would not like to make them ill through ignorance! Regards

Did all budgies come from the same place? If not one of the others may have been carrying something and passed it on, otherwise a small cage is a good way to keep Kiwi warm and safe. A hot water bottle will suffice as a heating mat at a pinch, a lamp is good too to add warmth to the cage and cover top and three sides to help keep the heat in. Seed and water provided and moniter him. Clean paper down so you can see if his poops are normal.
If he is sick (could be why the others are picking on him) you will need to get a vet to look at him.

Thanks so much for your advice! Kiwi is bouncy about and whistling away. I took your advice also about keeping them in the aviary and let them out after a couple of days, they went back in no problem. I'm reading all the bumph I can. Again thank you for your help
Kind regards
Julie
