Hi there. We'd need much more detailed information to see if we could help at all.
Have you checked his poop? Is it unusual? Do his feathers look healthy? Has he stopped preening himself properly?
A photo tells a thousand words, so if you can, post a few clear shots of the bird, including a close up of his head.

his dropping at the moment are a browny colour and creamy colour in the middle. He isnt preening himself as much as he normally does. Also he has a ring that he usually plays with and he has stopped doing that and he used to enjoy running back and forth along his perch this has also stopped. Me and my husband both work full time and i leave a radio on for him whcih he used to chirp along to. unfortuantely he is a vey shy budgie and has only come out of his cage 3 time in his life due to his previous owner. we keep leaving his cage door open but he wont come out, we are also still trying to hand tranin him which is not working. He keeps fluffing his feathers up alot and i have noticed his breathing is fast, Not sure if this is normal as never had a budgie before. The majority of the time he sleeps. another thing that may help i abut 6 weeks ago i put some snaded perch covers in and i have noticed he is eating them. Attachments:

[/b] [/quote] Sanded perch covers are very bad for budgies' feet. Please get rid of these as soon as. The very best thing for your budgie as a perch is get back to nature and get him some natural branches. There are plenty of safe trees to use, but check first. Apple and willow are favourites with forum members and totally safe. These simply need a scrub and dry and are ready to go. The photos are too little to see any detail on them - I can't get them to enlarge.

Poop may be dark green in colour (usually in seed-eaters), or brown (usually in pellet-consuming birds.) Feces may be other colours, as well, depending on what the bird has recently consumed. For example, certain berries will cause the feces to take on the colour of the fruits ingested, I would keep him on just seed and water for a few day's and as Hezz say's, remove the sand sheet...........the cream or white is urine

If I saw such a marked change in a budgie's behaviour I would want to take him to a vet. Have you ever had him at the vet? An avian specialist is preferable. I also just wondered if he could be too hot right in front of a window? That depends on where you live of course... :-) But I have heard it advised that you don't place the cage right in front of a window as they need to be able to find shade when it is warm. I hope he will soon be back to his usual chirpy self and am sure someone who knows more than me will be along to help out soon. What is the little guy's name by the way?

I'm wondering if he has some of the sand sheet stuck somewhere in his digestive system which is making him feel poorly, I really hope not, but I think you need to see an avian vet as soon as possible and get him checked out. An avian vet will be able to feel around to see if there is anything untoward in there and know what to do next if necessary. I hope he is better soon x

Hi Thanks for all the advice. His names beauty. He's still not his usual self. Instead of a chip its a low pitched noise at mo. He's not gone off he's food though. I tried a tonic in his drink which was suggested to ease his tummy but dosent appear to have had any difference. Will be looking at avarin vets locally and get him checked. Also asked for some advice regarding his beak not really wanting him to have anasthetic but what will help keep it trim, he has cattle fish and an iron block.

Bark and natural branch perches will give him something natural to chew on, or you can buy toys with chunks of soft wood on them that are made to be chewed up.
