I need a bit of help. I got some Xeno450 from our local vet( not the avian vet) as i couldn't get Ivermectin. I found it very difficult to put the recommended 1/2 drop and think it was a bit more . She has noticed it and is scratching and shaking her head around . Is this normal shall wash it off ? I'm a bit worried she may manage to ingest it?

I just googled that product. It says it is for rabbits, guinea pigs and birds over 800g. My budgie only weighs 40g! If I've got that info right, it could be way too strong for a small budgie!
Just to add, it is ivermectin based, but I can't see how strong it is on there, but it seems to be for medium sized small animals.
Ivermectin comes in different strengths for different sized animals - horses, cattle, sheep, dogs and cats down to small birds.
It is dangerous to overdose.

Well happy to say she is alive and well and very noisy ;-) I did question the fact that on the packet it said it was for birds over 800grams but it also says doses per 100grams of bird. Pickle weigh s 53 grams . I tried to give her 1/2 drop but it seemed like more? Anyway i will not be using it again ! The avian vet is due back in town ( I know it sounds like the wild west)in a couple of weeks and if the ears are still bad i will take her there. Thanks for the advice

If you are in the UK, you can get Ivermectin 0.1% strength for birds online. 0.1% is the safe strength for budgies.
Someone here may have a link for you, or try googling it.
Also, if you ever have trouble with the droppers supplied with meds, I go to the pharmacy and get those small dose plastic syringes. They are way more accurate measuring from 0.1ml to 1ml exactly.

Yeah thanks- after all that she does seemed to have stopped scratching? I will see in a week or so then either get some Ivermectin or take her to the avian vet. She really needs one of those lamp shades but i'm not sure i can get one small enough
