Hi, this morning my budgie seemied ok, but within an hour he looked damp underneath his beak, as if he'd had a bath and seems quiet. He had been rubbing his beak on the perch and I wondered if it's anything to do with his crop? He does have grit. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Hi Birdlovers, could you possibly give us a bit more info? What sex is he and any pictures would be good if you can.
How are his droppings, are they normal? And does he seem lethargic, eyes closed or semi closed? Have you noticed him regurgitating if his beak is damp?
Hope he will be alright, let us know as much info as possible so that we may be able to help you further

Hi, thanks for replying. He's male and about 3 years old. He does have problems with his droppings, they sometimes are quite sticky and he has to have the feathers round his vent trimmed. He sees a bird vet who has told me it's probably an inherited condition. I've kept pet budgies for years and haven't seen today's problem before. His beak seems dry and I haven't seen him regurgitate anything, although he does have a mirror which he 'feeds' at times. I've come home quickly from work to check on him and he'd moved to his swing and is sitting upright, although a bit fluffed up and he is looking around. I've texted the vet. Thanks a lot for getting in touch, I will let you know what happens.

I can only recommend keeping an eye on him very closely - a bit of an ask if you are at work! I suggest getting him to his vet if this continues. Hopefully it is a one-off thing and he is as right as rain.

Absolutely keep an eye on him, and would advise checking with the vet a you have done as he made just need an antibiotic. One thing in future that you may wish to invest in is Guardian Angel medication as that is brilliant stuff and helps a lot. Plus keep him somewhere warm and quiet. Hope you get on alright with the vet look forward to hearing how he gets on
