I believe that everyone would be affected by the dust to one degree or another. But some worse than others. Thanks Marianne/zippo for the help . You're welcome Ryan.

Hi Ryan. Budgie dust. Farmers lung & most of the trade/work related chest complaints are just fancy names we give to the effect of dust particles on the chest. It usually starts off with an occasional cough, until a trip to the Doctor suggests you might be slightly asthmatic. Although damping down. vacuum cleaning, mask wearing & air purifying gadgets only ease the situation, they do not remove all the fine powder dust particles that settle on every surface. Like every illness, disease or plague it doesn't affect everyone. If you have progressed through the slight cough & the asthmatic. The next is the morning cough, rather like a smokers cough with phlegm. The Doctor may fob you off with an asthmatic inhaler. You reluctantly sell off your precious birds. That seems to work. You feel a lot better with only an occasional bad turn. One morning while cleaning your teeth you cough up blood. After a hurried visit to the Doc. He tells you its nothing to worry about. it happens if you cough hard & long enough. On your third visit the Doc reluctantly sends you for a chest X-ray, After a few days, the letter arrives, an operation has been scheduled for the next day at Christies Hosp. To cut a long story short, I came home with only one lung, slightly damaged but serviceable if only used for light breathing. Those making light of the effect of Budgie Dust, don't as I did also make light of the cough..... Yours B.J. PS Sorry if I rambled on a bit.

Hi Ryan. Can I add a tip. Place any extractor fan as close to the bird room floor. The conventional placement high in the eves is to stop them being used to remove large objects. Low down allows your fan to work with gravity instead of against it.....B.J.
