Hi All,
Bert doesn't seem to be herself these days. She sits on her perch in pretty much the same place for long periods of time. She's not chirping (or screeching) as she usually does. When I put my hand in th cage, she normally bites me (HARD!) and now she's letting me stroke her tummy and putting up very little resistance. She's not tail-bobbing. Poo seems normal. She's eating and drinking pretty normally (as far as I can tell - maybe a bit less but barely discernible).
She normally enjoys a good game of "car tossing" most days. This is where we put a small plastic car (from a Kinder egg) that she seems particularly interested in, on the open door of her cage. She then picks it up and chucks it on the floor, then turns her head from side-to-side to look at it. We then repeat the process until she's fed-up. She seems to have gone off that game too.
The cage door is always ope, and she does still go out into the room and fly round periodically, but not as much as usual.
She's still moulting (pretty much constantly for about 9 months now) and growing new feathers.
She doesn't seem "ill", just "disinterested" for long chunks of each day.
We've tried various tonics in her water, but the water container is divided into two and when we put tonic in one half, she always drinks form the other half in preference.
She still refuses all manner of fruit or veg (has never tried a single piece ever since we've had her), but is pretty enthusiastic over millet. Still refuses to take a bath too.
Should we seek veterinary attention? Are there any easy checks we can do ourselves? Her eyes seem bright and she seems alert in the sense that she notices things, she's really just not interested in them.
