Hi guys, Basically guys I acquired 2 budgies from my friend's uncle who didn't look after them properly, and I think one of them has a problem with her wing, I think possibly it's broken?? Her left wing is noticeably higher than her right and is a different shape, kind of more hunched, whereas her right wing is smooth to her body. There's no blood, and it doesn't seem to be causing her that much pain or discomfort because she seems very sociable and playful, she has hopped on my finger rather eagerly more than once, and has been eating and drinking normally. I'm going to take her the vet this week, bit is there anything I can do for her in the mean time?? The other one is a blue and white female. She seems alright, she's eating and drinking and is sociable. However she has a purple tag and a red tag, one on each foot. What do they mean, and should they be remover or left alone?? I'll add more photos soon.. Any help would be appreciated Attachments:

can you take a photo from the side!! It looks like the wing has been clipped....meaning that the flight feathers have been cut with scissors!!!

Hello. I agree, looks like feathers clipped But if you can get someone else to take a pic, while you hold both wing spread out. It would be great help. Why not ask friends uncle for any info on clipped wings. The ID rings on the leg are for breeder information, ie A bird fitted with two rings would have one colour to show her mother & another to show her father. This would help the breeder, so next year he would know which birds came from which parents. Simple... They don't need removing......B.J.

So I just got back from the vets with little Kiwi, and she said that she had suffered an injury in her early life and it had been allowed to heal unsupervised, so it has set incorrectly. There is thickening of the bone around her humerus, which has rendered her unable to fly But there is no pain even when being handled.. But other than that she is a healthy and happy bird! Thanks for your help guys, but I didn't want to stress her by restraining her and putting a camera in her face.. I'll give her all the love I can! She is very smart and inquisitive, I just love her!

That's good to hear Dan. She's a lovely little thing. One of the other members, Rachael, also has a similar bird with a bung wing and she also does fine.

The little lady isn't letting her bum wing get the best of her. Luckily she found you to help her along the way. You and your two new birds will have a good time together.

Hi Dann, Stace is right I do have a budgie called Holly who has a very similar wing injury, she has one wing higher than the other which doesn't lie flat against her body and she is unable to fly. I don't know how she got this as I got her from a lady last December who was looking to rehome her. She is very active though and doesn't let it stop her ;D She is always throwing herself across the room to get to her favourite spot. Here are a couple of photos of Holly: All you can do is adapt the cage for her, make sure there is a ladder to help her get up off the bottom and and that all perches, seed dishes, and water are within easy reach. You'll be surprised how well she will get on
