Hi all,
This is my first post! I joined to seek a bit of advice about my poor budge.
Background: Cookie is a 3 year old female budgie, she's on her own (no friends), and is fed on Harrison's high potency mash (recommended by the vet) with a sprinkling of Avipro (also recommended by the vet). We took her to the vet about 3/4 months ago now since she was always tired and sick-looking with some vomiting/regurgitating and not vocalising. He said that it was likely that this was due to poor nutrition- i.e. picking out only the tastiest seeds (the millet) and not getting enough nutrients. He also gave us medicine for a 'gut imbalance'.
We changed her food and she seemed much better, tweeting, whistling etc.
However, two weeks ago we caught her vomiting - flinging lots of vomit around - greeny sort of phelgmy consistency. After she finished throwing up she looked sad and ill. We took her to the vet, who did lots of tests. Said he was happy with how she was progressing, good feather condition, good poos etc. No sign of megabacteria or anything else. He recommended that we give her a five day course of the medicine again.
She seemed to get better, but today she's thrown up again. She's now sitting on the bottom of the cage, had a bit of a drink from a bowl we put down there and looking sad. Mum reckons that the food is bad for her (i disagree) or it's caused by her eating the sand off the sand sheets or it's too hot in the room.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Should we give her another course of medicine? (There's some left over still)
