What brand of seed do you use for your birds and why? I always give bucktons special or bucktons 50/50, my reasons are quality of the seed and the smell of fresh seed when you open the bag.[/b]

I make my own seed mix as there are not many good seed mixes available here.
Big part of my seed mix is canary seeds (40 to 50 %) and rest is mix of various millet seeds, niger seed, linseed, naked oats, sesames seed etc.

I used to get johnsons and jeff's, expensive and too dusty for me. I went to my local pet shop , £1.52 for a 3KG bag. Compared to £6.00 for the same kg of johnsons and Jeff. The petshop stuff has a better mix too, instead of just three different types of seed, they're is at least 5. Plus i can get it quickly as i don't have to wait for it too be delivered . perfec .

Thanks for the reply Ryan, i find most petshops round my area have the big 20kg bags but also have the small bags say 1kg but the small bags they have just split a 20kg sack, so they dont mix there own smaller bags down here. Have you tried Bucktons? How much are 20kg sacks where your from? down here i pay 17 poundfor bucktons.

I don't have faith in the pet store mixes, just sitting there for heavens knows how long so Trill it is for mine. Peace of mind for me and I don't have to watch the pennies to that extent - they are worth it!

Good idea hezz. I noticed what looked like dry mould on the inside of my millet spray near the end, then read about barrie treating his ... No rush though as I bought the F10 with detergent in so going on a trawl of my local pet shops for the other. One cool thing about London, 5 pet shops inwalking distance

Trill is great but I cannot afford it. I buy a 20kg sack of seed for £25 and give them that. Okay so it doesn't have the vits that trill has but I give them plenty of fresh veg and other things too.
£1.25 per kg. Trill works out at £3.10 per kg.
