Over a period of 2 weeks 2 of my hen budgies appear to have been killed. On both occasions the birds have been healthy when checked in the morning but were found later in the day dead. Both birds had their breasts covered in blood giving me the impression that they have been killed by others. These 2 were in the main flight with 32 others. How do I ensure that this behavior does not continue.

They are feed on 50% canary seed and a mixture of 50% white, red and panicum millet seed which I mix myself. To this I add some Gold Feast soft food and Daily Essentials 3 vitamins both of which I order from the The Bird Company. I supply clean water everyday with either Calcivet or Abidec added. I have used the same feeding routine for approx one year.

I treated for mites about 3 months ago. My main flight where I feed has 2 doors which I open on warm days. There is no sign of vermin but I did remove 2 slugs from the outside of the door a few nights ago.

slugs come looking for bird seed , the trail they leave can kill your birds.
Slugs avoid crawling over anything dry, dusty or scratchy, such as diatomaceous earth which if used will kill them as they pass over it.
