Hi. I've just got 2 young budgies ( 8-10 weeks old), Brian and Sylvia. They are happy, perky little things and I am not concerned at all about their general well being however neither bird can fly due to a lack of tail feathers and having looked on the www, now I'm concerned that they might have French Moult. The lady I bought them from pointed this out to me and told me that the parents had pecked the tail feathers off to stop them flying back into the nest but the they would soon grow back. I had no reason to disbelieve her but now I'm not so sure and am worried I've been spun a yarn. I'm attaching a photo of both birds - please can someone give me some advice.

Some hens pluck the feathers of their young.
