So Busby and Quin are now in the same cage... There's been the odd peck from Busby towards Quin.. Are they just figuring out who's boss? They've sat together a few times and both preened at the same time (not preened each other) There's been no squaking and flapping about though and they've had a little natter to one another.. I can't remember how my old boy and Busby were together when I first introduced them in the same cage..

Sounds like Busby and Quin will get along well. There will always be an occasional spat, nothing serious.

in flocks in the wild, budgies don't really have a structured hierarchy, at least not what we would think. They rather work as a team to find the best water and cereal grasses, like one huge animal made up of thousands of little ones. However, as with all animals, they will fight sometimes. It sounds like they are just protecting their territory. But since they seem to get along, are preening each other and it's just the occaisional peck, I shouldn't be too concerned. You could have two cocks, but the way you will know if they are both cocks is that the males have a blue-purple cere and the female will a brown crusty cere. But I'm sure you already knew that! Hope they get along well!
