Well, what a stressful week we've had! Mum wasn't feeling at all well the last couple of days of our holiday so we took her to the out of hours doctor on Saturday. Her blood pressure was 98/20! So low the doctor said he hasn't seen such a low blood pressure in someone not already in a state of collapse. She was admitted to hospital and found to be severely anaemic, needing a blood transfusion. They think she was bleeding internally and did investigations - thankfully nothing serious going on and it was probably all made much worse because she is on warfarin. We brought her home today, looking a feeling much better. It brought home how much a part of this family Pepito is. Mum missed him and he missed her (he has a little whistle he makes especially for her and I heard it a lot!) He was very stressed out when I was anxious and stressed, he definitely picked up on that something was going on. But he's been so GOOD! He hasn't had much time out to play as I was back and forth to the hospital twice a day, but he made no fuss when not getting out and no complaints either about going back after just a short play time. He's been loving and sweet to me and my sister, it felt as if he knew we needed some love! He's as happy as we are now to have her back home...

I'm glad your mum is back home and I agree with you, I think they are very much in tune with what's going on in the family. I bet he's happy to have everyone back together too! X

So sorry to hear about your Mum Ruth, glad she is back home and hopefully on the mend? As Sweetie says, I swear animals are in tune with knowing something is different and behave accordingly. Pepito is a darling isn't he! You have a wonderful little guy there

Thanks everyone! Mum is very tired but we think better than she has been for a few weeks now they are sorting her all out. Hopefully a few days rest will see her back to her usual vigorous activity levels! Pepito is one happy budgie today, its so lovely to see him having fun and singing his little heart out again! :-)

Thank you Sarah. Mum is still very tired and needing a lot of rest but she is definitely improving a little every day. She's pretty amazing at that though considering she is 82 and been through so much in the past couple of weeks! :-) Pepito is sitting on her shoulder at the moment making cute whistles in her ear... I think he really missed her, bless him! :-)
