Was contemplating getting sweetie a large parrot cage for extra space, however, the spacing between the bars seems quite wide and all the little barred cages seem too small for what I wanted, would a parrot cage be unsuitable? Help please

i am no expert but i would say if the bars are any wider than the ones on your hegan cage then it could be a prob,i have read lots of horror storys about budgies getting there head stuck through bigger bars and dying any way im sure some one will correct me if i am wrong as Elf is my first ever budgie so still learning myself

Yes you are right, Moogie. Big spaces can cause problems with budgie heads getting stuck, and we don't want that, do we kiddies!
Many big cages are designed for larger parrots, while other big cages are designed for smaller birds like budgies. You just need to check the bar spacing before considering them.
Someone in the UK may be able to give you some links.

Half inch bar spacing for budgies. I have seen parrot size cages with budgies bar spacing.

Hi what size cages are you looking for? Mine have a big flight cage but there are six of them in there lol. Also how much are you wanting to spend? x

I'm not really sure about the size of a normal parrot cage lol sorry i know it's not very specific in not good with dimensions, just need to ensure bar spacing is right and I don't know how much I should be spending?! X

If you haven't done already, you might like to try: www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/birdsThe have a good selection plus discount codes. A lot of people say you buy as big as you can afford really. Are you planning to get a friend for Sweetie or just a bigger cage? Hope that helps

Thank you for the link I may get her a friend at some point in the future but I love having her alone at the moment and am going to help her reach her full potential before I would think about another one. I just want the bigger cage so she can have the biggest possible space while she is in. X
