ok, so. I've had my budgie for a few months now, and he's such a loving bird. But my main concern is his diet. Ever since I've got him he's only been fed on Trill and millet. I've heard that they need fresh foods in their diet so they will live longer and get the vital nutrients that they need in their diet. Also I don't have grit or a cuttlebone but I do have a mineral/calcium/iodine block (it's orange and shaped like a heart) specially for budgies. He always wants to eat my crisps (doritoes) so I do give him a bit but not too much because I understand that high salt and high fat foods can be moderately unhealthy for parrots. But whenever I take an apple up or something, e won't touch it even if I encourage him. :-/so please let me know how to encourage him to try something new! Also, what are some veggies or fruits that I could feed him? I am aware that avocado, mushrooms, chocolate, alcohol, caffienne and the pips and seeds of fruits are poisonous to them, that's why I cut them out. But what fruit/veg does your budgie love? I've heard they can eat dandelion leaves. Is this true?

That still leaves you with lots of other fruits & veg, include grass & D lion. You Could buy a bag of frozen veg. Throw out the onion etc. & keep it in the freezer. To feed, Thaw one small piece & pretend to eat it so he may copy you. Don't offer him a bowl of mix. its a waste if he wont eat it... Some he will like & some he won't just like you.. Try fruit the same way...... Read the posts on nutrition..OK...B.J.
