Thanks Gaile , Its very waring and I am knackered its also dam expensive I had to go into town yesterday and while there they wanted slush pupies so I bought 4 which came to £5.40 The youngest one is the hardest as she gets bored so quick I dont have the patience I had when I was younger and I know it might sound mean but I have brought up my kids and don`t particulary want to be tied again with having to drag kids around wherever I go. roll on sept 5th

I know that it is not easy for many people and childcare but it really is not fair to expect grandparents to look after their grandkids!!! My parents have never really looked after my kids due to ill health! But me mum always said to me that they are my kids and my responibility. I left work to have my son and never went back! We just servived on hubby's wage!!

So have we, Gaile. My boys know if they want something it is up to them to save up for it themselves.
Sometimes I think it is the Grands who should move away, and then the adult children won't have them to rely on any more.
You still have two more weeks thereabouts, Julie. Eeek! And do you have them all day every day?

I was the same when my kids were growing up I had no one to look after them as my mother worked and so did mum in law so I stayed home to look after them and like you relied on hubbys wages ,But I wished I had been able to have worked and earned a bit of money as we would have been far better off than we are today . I had 3 kids myself and I do tend to think that I have done my bit bringing them all up and all the ties that goes with having kids in tow. My friend feels the same way when it comes to her grand children.. we love having them and seeing them but for short peroids and not all the time, and I think its the same for a lot of grandparents but not a lot will admit to it. My daughter dropped them off this morning exept the oldest who is 12 she has gone over the stables were they have horses as she does show jumping so she is happy being over there. I was so pleased to hear my daughter is off next week so willl be home for the kids Hooray !!! I will have the week to myself

Forgot to add today is the day of the week I dread FRIDAY Because I always have to go to my grans she`s 95 in november and do her shopping for her plus pick my mum up she`s 76 and take her with me to Asda or Morrisons to do her shopping Both are as bad as each other my nan is as deaf as a post and wont get a hearing aid but is good for her age and still lives in her house . She has the television on so loud its almost bouncing off the unit then moans she cant hear what we are saying ;D Then there is my mother who is living on her nerves and definitely got some mental issues going on and is constantly agitated and hyped up and is obsessed with moaning about my gran And on top of that I have to take the kids with me today I will be so relieved this evening when I come back from grans which will be around 6-45pm and I drop the kids home Its going to be a long day

When I left work in jan 1999 to have my son, people just assumed that my parents would have them!!! I'm a qualified Nursery Nurse so I became a childminder so that I was working and at home!!! In september both my children ( daughter turned 11yrs old on Tues) will be in secondary school, so I decided to get a proper job!!!! I will hopefully working at a school as a dinner lady!!! Working as a childminder taking 2 little girls to and from school! this means I can still run the local toddler group, Brownies and Rainbows!! See to my family, neighbour and pets!!!

I often see grandma's (much younger than me!) walking around town looking exhausted with kids and babies in prams. Neither of my daughters have children and when I say I have no grandchildren women (never men!) say 'ahh shame' - no it's not actually Nowt to do with me and I wouldn't have the patience (time or money) so I really don't mind not having grand-children. Especially when I hear some kids whining on ;D but I know they're not all like that. I'm sure there are many grandparents who will be relieved when school starts again, on the other hand some will still be looking after the kids while their parents go to work! I really hope their daughters and sons appreciate the free child minding ;D

I feel for you, it's tough but wednesday is nearly here, chin up! My youngest son is 7 and much more work than the other two even though he is a really good boy. I work from home in order to be my children's carers. Being with them is more important to me than having more money. We've survived this long, so I'm sure we'll be fine!!
