Hi, I have a ...2-3 year old bird, and on Sunday night, he was on the floor of his cage, and it looked like he was having some kind of seizure, struggling to move about, his right wing was fully straight and rigid for a few seconds, I held onto him for about 30 seconds until he was calm, after that he seemed fine.
Then just before I went to bed I went to cover him and he was hanging onto the back wall of his cage. When I say hanging though, I mean hanging on, not holding on, but hanging like a man hanging off a cliff for dear life. I propped my hand under him and eventually he dropped into it and I put him on the ground of his cage, thinking that I would wake up in the morning and he would be a goner.
Anyhow, I woke up on Monday and he was stood, asleep on the floor of his cage, which I have never seen a bird do before, now he seems off balance, jumps from one perch to another without any grace when he lands, and since Sunday hes had a few moments of what can only be described as panic attacks.
Just now he had one, was fine sat on his perch next to his plastic friend, and suddenly he was leaning against it like he was losing his balance, and was making noises what can only be described as cries for help, I quickly stuck my hand in, but he still managed to fall to the floor before I got in, luckily it was a low perch, but he sat on the floor shaking and I had to hold him and soothe him for a few minutes.
Now he seems fine.
Hes been chirping normally in between these... episodes, hes eating and drinking normally, just seems to be spending more time sleeping, Ive got him partially covered at the minute, so he can still see me, but is dark enough for him to relax.
My question is what can cause this kind of thing to happen ?
I have a feeling he might have banged his head somehow on Sunday when I was out, I don't think its an infection since hes not showing signs of illness constantly, hes normal for the most part then has a random episode after a few hours of being normal
For now I have took his swing out so hes not crashing from the top of his cage.
