It would be better to watch a Vet or an experienced breeder do it first

Also I would be confident in doing it I have done cats rabbits dogs erc and know to keep away from the blood supply and it's easier with sweetie as her claws are white so the quick is very visible just wondered if it was necessary x

Not every budgies requires nail clipping. In all this time, I have done it for one budgie only.
There is a chance of bleeding if the nails are cut too close.

I wouldn't say it is necessary to trim a budgies nails, it does depend on the budgie. The majority of my budgies have never had their nails done, two had theirs done because when I got them they had really long nails that caught on everything, this was down to their previous homes. I haven't had to trim them since. The other budgie is Lola because she is quite a lazy hen so I have to trim hers once in a blue moon. If Sweetie has a good variety of perches and is nice and active then there shouldn't be any need to trim her nails Like BB said, see if you can post a photo of her feet for us then we can tell you if they need doing or not

none of the budgies at work have ever needed it doing. My two however have beak and feather deiase and need there claws and beaks doing about once a week to every other week. Its a pain in the bum.
Also ive read if you start clipping it will make them grow faster, does anyone know if this is true or not?

I've never had to clip mine. I don't think it something that should be done as routine, if it's not needed.

If your bird can walk on a flat surface without the claw lifting the front of the toe up off the surface, the claw DOESN'T NEED CUTTING. If the tip of the toe is raised off the flat surface by the length of the claw, the claw does need a trim.
