Advice needed - Budgie molting and distressed

Hi, I'm new to this forum and i'd be grateful for any advice you guys can give me on my 6yr old male budgie, Gavin. It seems it's time again for him to molt, which has oviously happened previously through the years but this time he seems alot more distressed than before. He's making a squeaking noise which is almost constant, but becomes more obvious when I put him to bed. He's not sleeping properly either which is not normal as he normally likes his sleep. He's eating and drinking water although less than normal but I put that down to his molting making him loose his appetite abit.
Mostly worried about the squeaking noises he's making. He doesnt seem to be having any problems breathing, no puffing his feathers or chest heaving. Anyone any ideas? I'm really worried about him. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure other more experienced members can offer further advice but what I would suggest is if he is particularly stressed from the moult put some guardian angel in his water to give him a bossy during this tough time. It's not usually for moulting budgies, rather ill or streased ones but if he is stressed then I would give it to him to help get him through. I hope it doesn't last too long best of luck to you and the poor little guy x

Thanks for your advice sweetie, can I ask though what guardian angel is and do I get it from a pet shop? I'll give anything a go to try help him. x

To me the squeaking doesn't sound like anything to do with the moulting, but something more serious. From memory goitres and thyroid problems can cause budgies to develop a squeak. Are you able to get a video of him making this noise? Could help us all try to help you.

Guardian Angel can be ordered on-line. I don't have access to this wonder-drug, so google it and find a source there.

Bird Care Company sell it. That's where you need to go, but google the address. I agree that this is not to do with his moult but with something else that may be up with him. I hope he is ok...

Two possibly problems , a goiter or air sac mites , apply two drops of ivermectn 0.1% to the skin on the outside wall of the birds crop , repeat after 7 days ..............for the goiter add Lugols iodine in the birds water for 7 days
