Because Beauty hasn't been well and I had to keep her warm I recommend using one of these heat mats used in reptile cages and perfectly safe . I put ceramic tiles on top of the mat because ceramic holds the heat plus makes it safe if using a plastic bottomed cage.. you can pick odd loose tiles up in tile shops like tiles r us etc , Tile A bath & co for pennies .you would only need one or 2 ...I then put them .between the mat and the cage (outside the cage ) www.amazon.co.uk/ProRep-Heat-Mat-150-280mm/dp/B004DHOXH2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1348217298&sr=8-3

Great thread, Julie. Do these come with a thermostat? I seem to remember you saying that the one you had did. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info with this one ..... just wondered.

Heating pad can do wonders when there is no hospital cage available.
