news.pezoogle.com/mypet/garden-mulch-pet-safetyI knew garden mulch was toxic to dogs but what about birds and budgies ? I am thinking of all options for the floor of the outside aviary when its finished and was wondering about the garden mulch and which one is the safest

its much beter to just have smooth concreate.... so its easy to clean scrape it then brush .... then simply hose it down .... making sure any outside flight cant be touching the floor... so it dont suck up rain water and so when you hose it down the water can get away...... put it on bricks as i did...... with holes to let the water out... you can fix it to the floor but it will rot after a few years .... then you have to rip it down.... and do it all over again .... so best to put it on bricks.... ..

What about slugs though as we have a lot of them after my potted plants and I have to be careful with what I put down because of the dogs

Mick your set up sounds like my parents one, with bricks to let the water out. They don't put anything on the floor either, just take a scrubbing brush to it! As for the slugs, what about some very sharp stones around the outside, broken egg shells or similar?
