Today was Ada's and Eagle's vet appoitment to have there beaks done, normaly i do them myself but as ada had been ill reasontly i didnt want to stress her more and she compleatly stopped doing her beak herself (i dont often have to clip hers) and it had gotten realy long but i couldnt see a clear bit like i can on eagles. so i decided to book them in with there vets to be done.
They both came along as i wanted the sides done too as they were very jaggedy. They both called on the way there and we had to waite an extra 10mins so eagle made sure everyone knew he was there and that he wasnt happy.
The vet said she would have to use the tooth thing to do them as they arnt allowed to use clippers in the pratice due to the risk of beak splitting but she would give them a bit of gass to keep them calm. She had a look at them first and egale was chewing on her finger, and then i signed the papers and off they went.
I nevousely waited for them to come back and hoping they would be ok. She came back with them and said that Ada's quick was realy long and right down to the tip so started bleeding straight away and she was suprised it was so long. but she stayed calm thanks to the gass and they stopped the bleeding and got off the overgrown bits. Ada was very happy and was preening away and was chatting on the way home, must have been the gass lol.
Eagle's beak went well and no bleeding however they had to do him fully awake as they couldnt knock him out! She said he was on the gass for longer then ada but nothing happened, so he must of been holding his breath. But she said he did realy well and didnt get too stressed. Once out he was playing with his plastic budgie toy.
So both now have nice beaks and are over there trip to the vets allready. Egg food and gardian angle is on the menu today.
Ill have to get a pic of there new beaks.
