Have you ever looked really closely at your budgies' feet? They are like reptilian pterodactyl dinosaur feet, covered in an armour of shiny scales.

I agree, I have often thought that if you put those feet on a mythical dragon or similar they'd look just right! Good job the rest of the budgie is so cute to compensate for feet like that!!

How true! Gotta say looking at those think it would scare anyone half to death but definitely agree with Sarah - how beautiful Boo is more than makes up for it

Marianne, that 'feathered friends' link is fantastic. Really good tips on how to get your budgie to bathe and loved the breakfast you made for them. What a brilliant idea. My two won't bathe yet, but I have only had them just over two weeks. They have had a couple of sprays with water tho, so they can't be too smelly!!!

They do look prehistoric dont they, but they are so tiny. When you look at a parrot or raptor then they look even more prehistoric.my ninas feet are huge compared to my budgies but i still like to fuss her feet. Sue

Well, they do say that birds evolved from reptiles ^^ Or so I've been taught. They're very cute though. Sometimes Munchy strikes a pose that reminds me of a T-rex, wings slightly held out from the body like those tiny arms. Gulls look quite scary in that pose, especially after eating (picture in BBC Wildlife). Instead of saying "Bless his little cotton socks" I always say "Bless his little scaly feet" when talking about Munchy ^^
