Hi everyone I have 8 budgies as some of you might know, and although they love their cage and toys/swing, I would really like to put in a tree branch that has lots of leaves and thin sticks to give them something to do. The young ones always seen to find something to do, but the ones that are 1 yr+ seen to get a bit bord! So my question.... what tree branches and leaves are 100% safe for budgies? And if anyone has any home made toy ideas, that would be great Thanks in advance, Nicola

Not sure about safe leaves, but I do know that willow and sycamore are safe for budgies, they love to strip off the bark You also may wish to take a look here too: budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=toysAlso some people use wooden wine racks in aviaries Hope that helps!

My budgies have branches in their cage, vet said that perfect round perches with the sandpaper on are not good for their feet. as for leaves I thought you meant things like lettuce and spinach - which my two love!

Nicola, any of the eucalypts are good, as are bottlebrush and grevillea. In my opinion these are the best, and you should be able to access them easily. If there is space in your backyard, why not ask your parents if you can plant a bottlebrush tree?? That way you will have readily available branches any time (once it grows up).
