Hi: Haven't posted here in a while but I have a question. We bought a new budgie back in June and we assumed he was a very young because the stripes covered his head completely and he was a bit small. Now, a few months later he has lost a lost of his stripes. Does this mean that the budgie is older than we thought. He is a gray budgie.

Although my Abbie has not lost hers and she is 6 years old now..
A bad case of "flecking" or whatever it's called!!
But she's lovely to me.

A chick will have head bars as soon as it is fully feathered up and gets out of nest box. These head bars will be all gone within 4 months or so.
