in prosess of doing aviery to allow my budgies more freedom . done shed for inside living with outside flight attached. i have had the offer of willow branches but not sure what i would need to do if anything to make them safe ?

I grow my own as it is the best perch available to our bugies.........remove the leaves and buds, wash the branches with an avian disinfectant, F10SC is the best, let them dry and they are then ready for use.

thanks for that barrie i have been on your site and gained quite a bit of info. my father used to keep budgies but that was 40 odd yours ago and things have moved on lol

I collected some willow branches for my birds last week, but when I looked online it said that the bark should be removed. See the list and note here: www.mdvaden.com/bird_page.shtmlI've had ash branches on their play tree for years and they were fine.

Lovebirds build nest with willow bark, budgerigars go manic stripping the bark off as they know it contains meds that they like
