Thats a good idea Stace about the plaster matchstick idea, would think that could work just to keep it straight whilst it heals would be good

If the break is high up, there is no way the vet will be able to splint it. The bird's body will be in the way. The same reason you need traction to pull a thigh-bone straight, and it can't be splinted, either.
