making door larger on wire cage??

Ha anyone done this? I have found a cage on ebay hat I like but the doors are tiny. I hate small doors, not worried about the side doors just the front. My current cage has a big drawbridge type door and I love it, I can even fit my head through it ;D
I am not worried about the cutting but wont it leave sharp edges on the wire and unlike wood you cannot sand it smooth'
I have several little hamster travel cages so sourcing the wire isn;t a problem. Hope someone can help me.

You can sand sharp edges smooth with a file and you could get a protective coating to paint on the ends that you have filed too.

Thats brilliant to know as the sharp bit was my main worry. I take it any metal file at B&Q would do? Sorry, not sure what you mean about protective coating??

"protective coating" maybe enamel paint....spray paint maybe x

Yes it is the white (or otherwise) chew-proof coating. It can be seen on most all-wire cages these days.
