He`s really stunning and congratulations on becoming an owner of such a lovely budgie.. I have only been an owner myself a few months so still learning but I know a lot will tell you to ditch the snuggly thing , there is a topic on here somewhere about them causing deaths in budgies so I would remove it , He seems very young at only 5weeks so I would just leave him in the cage to get used to it and settle in also don't grab him to catch him I had to do that with my Beauty when she had to have medicine and now she wont come near me

Just if his somewhere in the lounge he shouldnt be....like behind my tv...his just been there, just put him back in the cage. His a darling. If it is a he anyway xx

I wouldn't let him out of cage for a few days until he has settled in and got used to you .. its all strange to him at the moment and he needs to get to know his new cage and environment .

Hi Gemtia, I think you will find the other more experienced members would suggest you let Joey settle in his cage for a couple of weeks. He needs to get to know his surroundings in his cage so that he feels his cage is a safe place. He will also need to get used to you and your voice when you talk to him. Please don't let him out yet, he will be so frightened. By all means put your hand in the cage for him to get used to it and do the usual cleaning and topping up food and changing water. He will get used to you then, but he has to feel that his cage is his safe place.

Joey is lovely Gemma, and I know how you feel as an anxious new mum - i've just got my new babies last wed (the youngest just 4wks and the oldest 5-5half weeks. I was constantly checking to see if they were eating, drinking, etc for first few days - now they're eating me out of house and home lol. Mine are not quite, probably because there are three of them and they get up to all sorts of mischief. look forward to seeing more photos.
